Социально-философский анализ процессов силового принуждения в пограничной сфере имеет первостепенное значение как для обеспечения национальной безопасности, так и ее составляющей — пограничной безопасности. Данная статья посвящена выявлению особенностей силового принуждения в пограничной сфере на современном этапе социального процесса.

Social and philosophical analysis of the processes of compulsion with a force in a border sphere is of paramount importance to both national security ensuring and its component, such as the border security. This paper focuses on the identification of the features of coercion in a border sphere at the present stage of the social process.

The author devotes considerable attention to the theoretical aspects of pogranology (border science), and primarily to clarify its categorical apparatus. Thus, the concept of "world of frontier" is used to denote a holistic social and political phenomenon, covering the scope of the border (border space) of contacting nations and their states, the core of which is the state border. The notion of the border scope (border sphere) of the state is determined by totality of state institutions, as well as the forms and methods of activities of these ones, that ensure the protection of the interests of the individual, society and state in the system of border relations. Under the border space commonly also understood the complex entity, which includes the border space, a system of social subjects related to solving the border problems, and social relations in the border area.

The author notes the ambiguity of the existing definitions of ‘border space’ and ‘border area’ and proposes to adapt these concepts to social and philosophical context by category ‘socio-historical organism’.

In modern conditions, the need for compulsion with force in the border area is due to the following objective factors:

—    the presence of geographically delineated by state boundaries of social organisms,

—    the need to maintain national sovereignty within its territory,

—    the possibility of attempts to change the power of the state border, the use of border spaces for illegal activities.

From this perspective, the author examines the various modern forms of coercion in the border sphere, including the enhancement of controls at the external borders of the Schengen area, as well as peacekeeping operations in the areas of cross-border ethnic conflicts.
